WPMU & WP 3.0

Do you know if there are any plans for an easy upgrade to WP 3.0 when it’s released?

I can imagine that WP 2 -> 3 will be easy. The question is if they have us WPMU users in mind. I know that alof of plugin and theme author doesn’t so I’m a little worried…

    Hey Qlof,

I have tested 2 diferent WPMU 2.9.2 installs (local and server) with an upgrade to 3.0-beta. I did a manual replacement of the files via ftp and in both cases was amazed with how smooth easy the upgrade went. There’s some slight modifications necessary to the .htaccess and a couple other minor changes, but the upgrade actually tells you exactly what changes need to be made.

I am having some trouble with a few of my plugins not showing up or saving settings because of some of the new pages, but simple updates to the plugins themselves corrected all issues (none of which were severe or broke their ability to function).

Other than a few minor hiccups, I’m really excited for this upgrade. It’s nice to see the WP devs all working to make this seamless as well. There is still a few bugs in the core, but by the time 3.0 launches, I think most everything will be ironed out.

Re: plugins. Gotta admit that I’m really not expecting any major problems. My understanding of all this is that there’s not any major coding or function changes in the core code. It’s just the addition of multiple sites and we already had that code with wpmu.

Of course I could be wrong….
