Snapshot backup failed

From “Create Backup”:

“ERROR 504 – GATEWAY TIMEOUT

The server timed-out handling your request due to a temporary overload or long-running script. Please try again later or contact us if the problem persists.”

I did try again, and the backup succeeded, but then I got a Backup upload error.

Definitely more QA needed in this area.

When errors like this occur, is someone on staff notified? It would be nice to know that so that we don’t feel a need to report each occurrence.

    Seems like the support access enabled for the Staging site needs username, and password because it’s in Privacy mode, so I wasn’t able to check your site via support access.

    Just to be sure, I suppose the error you got is related to Managed Backup, right? Our hosting service will also take incremental backups to our server automatically, so creating manual Managed Backups specifically within the plugin side, in general isn’t really required, there are areas which we are still improving within our side.

    Our admins are constantly monitoring for any such errors as you have mentioned. I’m also bringing the error encountered into our teams attention, and will keep you posted once I get a feedback regarding this.

    Could you also please enable support access to your live site in case we could test this further via your website, if needed. :slight_smile:

    I have probably missed this but could you lead me to information about this? If you’re doing automated incremental backups for live sites, I think this should feature prominently in marketing information and docs. Eliminating the need for nightly and managed backups? Dude, that’s huge! :slight_smile:

    I was testing other facets of Hosting and was having other failures. Like, to get around the issues I’ve found here I wanted to use Shipper to move the site to my server, but then Shipper fails too. So at the moment this site is still stuck in staging. I’ll try to reproduce the issue in staging, then move the site to live using the Hosting feature, or will DM creds so that you can look at the staging site.

    Yes, there are incremental backups, you should be able to see them in backup tab for your site:

    [attachments are only viewable by logged-in members]

    Not all docs and marketing info is ready (we are still in beta :grinning: but I'm pretty sure it will be highlighted.

    The plan is that in future Snapshot will recognize that it is installed on our hosting and things like Automate won't be using Managed Backups, but will switch to hosting backup.

    But snapshots will be still working in a case when someone wants to have a backup in one more destination.

    Developers are preparing a new beta version that should have new improvements that should allow moving even more stubborn sites that are failing now. We are constantly testing Shipper with different hostings and different sites to improve it.

    I have just tested Managed Backup on my staging and there were not errors like that. But that was a small site.
