Question about namesevers

I’m confused. One place I read that I need to change namesevers, and then I read if I’m on your hosting and use the wildcard option for name then it’s done for me.

Also am I supposed to place an * somewhere for wildcard subdomains?

Could we know what exact action you are looking to perform and where you noticed the above so that we could better state what’s needed?

In general, there isn’t any change in nameserver required. WPMU DEV also provides nameserver, if you want to use our nameserver you can make the changes here:

At the moment, your website is already pointing to a domain and it seems to be loading fine. If you are looking to implement wildcard subdomain the only change needed is to add the _acme-challenge CNAME record.

I’m trying to set up wildcard subdomains following the multi site academy course and other tutorials.

Using godaddy for domain name and made some changes to DNS. Using wpmudev hosting.

Site is installed, says it’s mulitsite using subdomains.

Have tried to set up subdomain directory.localokanogancounty.net
But not found when I go from link in email of sites creation.

Don’t know what is blocking it?

From what I can understand, wildcard DNS is not configured for this domain. Can you please share a screenshot of the full DNS configuration for this domain so that we can check this further?

Yes, please add a CNAME record in order to point subdomains to the server:

```
I’d also suggest adding AAAA, or the first CNAME record from Hosting > Domains tab in the Hub for IPv6 support.

I’ve got the “*” added.
I can’t find how to “select” AAAA type record when I click Add.
I’ll try to get godaddys help. Then get back to you.

Got it figured out. Adding AAAA record. Just one question.
There are 2 blanks. Host: Points to:

Which do I put it in?

I left host blank and entered it in points to. Was that correct?

The ‘hostname’ should be @ and you need to add the AAAA record that you can find under the Domains tab in the hosting panel as a value for ‘Point to’.
